Warhammer 40k
With this cake I became an artist ;) I hand painted in the logos with food coloring and the borders and the windows (the windows are hard to see in this picture but they are there) For those of you who have never heard of Warhammer 40k, it's a tabletop game (also a video game) that the birthday boy loves to play. It's a lemon cake with cream cheese/raspberry filling!

Red and White buttercream Roses
Buttercream roses are amazing and way fun to make!! I just got a job as a professional cake decorator and I was told to brush up on my buttercream skills. I will definitely admit that I am great at fondant and gum paste but buttercream was not my speciality. So I have worked hard and practiced, practiced, practiced! I've learned more about draping, borders, and flowers and I have found a new love for it! I would much rather make a cake with just buttercream rather than fondant because in my opinion fondant tastes gross! Without further ado here's some pictures of the cake! Hope you enjoy!!

Here's a lemon cake with chocolate frosting! I have never been asked to make a lemon and chocolate combination before this but it was amazing! The tart lemons definitely compliment the gooey chocolate flavor!

Zebra striped baby shower cupcakes
Now these were fun to make! I probably always say that, I guess I love what I do. These were for a baby shower (they are
having a little boy obviously by the boyish colors) All my client told
me was the colors and the zebra theme so I had free range on these
little beauties and that's what I love!
I made 18 cupcakes so it was hard to fit them all in the picture but here's some of them
I had a blast making the zebra onsies! Maybe I should become a clothing designer?!?.....Nah!
I took a couple pictures of the process of making the cupcakes because pictures of the finished product don't always show all the cool features that cupcakes have to offer, I decided to make the cupcakes zebra striped. I made a batch of vanilla cake and a batch of chocolate and alternated them to make some stripes.
I love bright colors, they definitely catch your eye! Hope you enjoyed the pictures and feel free to comment and ask questions :)

Preview to this weekends cake...
So this little baby took me over an hour to do!!
I didn't use any special tools, just a knife..a toothpick...cornstarch..and a medicine cup!
Not sure if you can technically call it a specific flower cuz I made it up..I'll call it, toothpick flower..scratch that..how bout the Ginormous Pistil Flower! For those of you that don't know what a Pistil is: It is the huge bulge in the middle of my flower! I realized way too late that the middle part was too big for the petals but it gives the flower character so I'm keeping it!
I'm making a fancy cake for an event this weekend and since these take F-O-R-E-V-E-R to do I thought I would get started! I've got four more to go...Wish me luck!

Banana Bread Pancakes
Okay, I am definitely not a photographer but I whipped these up this morning and had to share the recipe! They are way easy to make and everyone will think you slaved in the kitchen for hours
Ingredients:
2 cup of Pancake mix
1 1/2 cup water (substitute:milk)
1 to 2 tablespoons of sugar (depending on how sweet you want them)
2 teaspoon of cinnamon
2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 ripe bananas
Oil (for pan) about 1 teaspoon per pancake
bananas, butter, and syrup for garnish
Instructions:
Combine the mix, water, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla together with a whisk. (The great thing about this recipe is you can change around the amounts of sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla without ruining the mix so feel free to add or put less...the more the better) Fold in the ripe bananas. Place oil in pan and spread around. Pour desired batter in your pan and cook until lightly brown. After cooked place on plate and spread with butter and garnish with bananas and syrup
Great tip:
I love bananas in banana bread and that's pretty much it. If you are the same way (even if you aren't) a great way to have ripe bananas on hand is to freeze your bananas when they get ripe. If you put them in a freezer bag they will last for months. When your ready to use: put the frozen banana in microwave on defrost for 30 to 45 seconds or so and it will be ready to mush in any recipe
